Star Citizen Alpha Patch 4.2

Alpha Patch 4.2 has been released to Evocati, and is now available to test!   Patch should now show: VERSION 4.2.0-PTU.9800043.

Note: This patch does not contain all of the intended features, which will be added iteratively to the notes as they become available. Additionally, some features may be implemented in a partial state and as such are not ready for testing and subject to removal.  When those features reach a playable state they will be detailed on the notes and added to the "Testing Focus".  Please issue council all issues related to those in testing focus and in general gameplay.

Tonight's build includes further ASD testing with the first 2 parts of our new sandbox activity starting at the Farro Data Center and moving on to new locations from there.

Known Issues

Avoid Orison in this build as the tram doors aren't opening
  • PU - Pyro - ASD Locations - Locations / Interactables - Maintenance room door retains previously used keycard after location cooldown, preventing access for subsequent visits
  • Multivehicle - PU - Vehicles / Quantum Travel - Ships streaming in or streaming out locations on a quantum travel jump has performance drops and frame freezing
  • Multivehicle - PU - Vehicles / Target lock - target lock is unlocked at random radar for targets is dropped
  • Multivehicle - PU - Vehicles / Target lock - target attacker stops working when a target lock is lost due to locking range or radar dropped
  • PU - mobiGlas - Asset Manager / NikNax - mobiGlas / Inventory / UI - The Assets Manager / NikNax app gets stuck at infinite loading and never loads assets
  • PU - Multivehicle - Vehicle Components / Bed Logout - Bedlogging in ships can break Quantum Markers

Shield Regen Updates
Updates to Shields to reserve buffer per-face instead of as one pool

Currently, the reserve pool stores all shield health in one pool, then distributes evenly back again. This can lead to easy distribution of health between faces again, e.g. if one face of four is fully down then the reserve pool will store 3/4 the health then distribute it evenly to all faces again. With this update, shields will now store each face separately in the reserve pool to avoid this redistribution.

Each reserve face stores a % of the current faces health, and regen up to a % of the max face health.  When going from faces to reserve, regeneration won't start the reserve until the face is fully empty. When going from reserve to faces, only ignore regen delay for regen coming from the pool - still get the delay for normal regen (it’s currently ignored for both).

Bug Fixes

  • Potential Fix: PU - Ship Battles V1 - Patrol - Foxwell - Missions - Ace Pilots ships when destroyed can also destroy the body (STARC-165633)
  • Potential Fix: PU - Stanton / Pyro - ASOP / Fleet Manager / UI - After retrieving a ship, the ASOP is sometimes blank, not displaying your hangar name to tell you where your ship is waiting (STARC-123318)
  • Potential Fix: PU - ASD Facility - VFX / Locations - The loadout scanner door VFX are rotated incorrectly (STARC-168869)
  • Potential Fix: PU - ASD Facility - Pyro - Narrative / UI - String name for backpack name and description can be seen when equipping the item (STARC-168995)
  • Potential Fix: PU - ASD Facility - Interactable / Locations - The keycard safes and credential printers can be tractor beamed (STARC-169004)

  • Potential Fix: The Centurion turret is missing its gimbals and they cannot be manually equipped
  • Potential Fix: PU - VFX / Visor - Rain droplets do not appear on player's visor when in a storm
  • Potential Fix: PU - Creatures - Valakkars - Juveniles appear to only take damage when the player shoots its lower body
  • Potential Fix: Aegis Idris - PU - Vehicles / Art - The Idris ramp will clip into the floor after being deployed
